I'm tempted to give this a go.
Sorry, I may have just done a double-up as I did not see this until after I created a new forum. I'm participating!
I'm going to do it - I have a couple of old game designs that I want to drag out.
Will probably need to find an artist to help out.
@creatorbot haha, no problem mate. Glad to hear word's getting out there!
@JoshuaSmyth sounds good. I've got Noah participating as well. I'll see if I can source Artists for the month.
All the best guys.
I want to do an iPhone game, am torn between a few options.
Finish Attack of the Meeplings for iPhone - Easiest option
Do another 2D shooter,
A first person Roguelike (art heavy maybe)
A simple first person shooter (maybe if I didn't also have a full time job)
A simple text/graphical text adventure
I figure the best way to approach it is one of two ways...
Do something experimental that you've always wanted to try, you have a month, who cares - have fun!
- or -
do something very simple, but polish the heck out of it. (Such as a breakout clone, or one button game)
I'ma taking the first route - diving into a genre I've barely played, let alone made a game for (Turn based strategy). I think what I have in mind is somewhat of a tall order, but f-it, I'm going to do the best I damn well can.
Could you do Caverns of Underkeep 3D? Basically the same game again, but from a first person point of view?
Taking the first route as well. Experimental.
I made a thread on GPforums, letting the people decide 1 element of the game each.
So far I have a 2D sidescroller RTS/city builder to make.

Sounds interesting, a sidescrolling citybuilding RTS should be brilliant!
Now we've got at least three Aucklanders participating, want to meet somewhere that's open at 12:00am, Friday the 1st for bit of a kick off Jam? (It's a tradition for the local National Novel Writing Month group to do that at the start of the month, so I figure why not try it here)
Yeah I could be down for that. Where shall we meet? I'm in Newton so anything in cbd direction is good for me.
Keen to meet up.
I know Esquires on Hobson/Vic street will be open (It's also where we had the NaNoWriMo kick-off) the Kebab place next to it might still be open as well. Also Denny's is on the same block. There might be one or two other places in the immediate vicinity that could be suitable.
I'm going to call it. Kick-Off gathering for NaGaDeMo in Auckland starts at 11:45pm Thursday 31st (tomorrow) at Esquires on corner of Hobson and Victoria St, we can decide there and then if we want to hang out at Esquires or some other place.
I'm using it as an excuse to prototype (but hopefully finish) one of the experimental game ideas that I've had kicking around in my head for a while. I just hope I have the time to work properly on it because my paid job is demanding a lot of my time & attention & then at the end of June there is the GAME MASTER's Industry Forum & Conversations with Designers on in Melbourne @ ACMI... looking forward to picking the brain of Tim Schafer!
Thursday midnight is a little difficult for me (have to work friday) but how about a weekend get togeather?
I can go tonight. Can't make Saturday night if we change it. Could probably do tomorrow night really late.
I'll be at the Graphic Novel Cafe from 1pm Saturday onwards working on the game and misc projects if that suits instead.
Quick, someone decide.
I seem unable to delete my triple post

Just a quick note to say that NaGaDeMo registrants are provided with trial version Unity Pro and Stencyl licences for the month.
Ah whoops I forgot to actually register
Ah, were you interested in the Unity or Stencyl licences? I can forward you the email with the details if you want.
We'll do the meetup tomorrow evening if everyone's cool with that. Any suggestions?
I'll see you at the Graphic Novel Cafe on sat.
No it's fine thanks. I've registered now.
Cool.
Just a quick note to say I'm positing daily updates on the blog and there's also a daily build available of my NaGaDeMo game.
Ok, I am not really a Blogger, I kind of hate it & it's not really my thing.
You can keep up with my progress on my blog here http://www.tinyfrogsoftware.com/blog/
I guess ill just leave my progress blog on this thread here :)
Ill be working solo on a board game when my class workload isnt too big. Though Ill probably get a few classmates to collaborate for some of the art :)
Hi Vantus, your game looks really cool. I'd be keen to give it a go at the next gamedev meetup if you're coming.
Heading into the second week now - Is everyone still on track? I hit a milestones of sort yesterday with a one level, extremely rough playable demo.
Hi all, thought I might have a go at this too - hopefully there's enough time left! Love the way your board game is shaping up, Vantus. :)
I'll be posting progress reports up at http://stevesalmond.com/
Welcome, Steve! And best of luck.
